Remember: this is only a dream...
I'm hanging out at some pool party with some friends, just chilling on the patio. Someone says they're hungry and we all agree it's hotdog time, so I'm elected to go get hotdogs for everyone from the stand on the other side of the patio.
As I walk by the pool, where there is a game of pool-volleyball underway, I'm hit in the back of the head (by an errant volleyball presumably) and knocked into the pool. I sink to the bottom of the pool, facedown and motionless. Underwater, I can hear muffled voices ask "is he dead?" Someone flips me over with their foot and I can see faces looking down at me thru the water. Someone says "his eyes are open, he's fine" and the crowd disperses, leaving me underwater, staring at the sky. I try to swim to the surface, but my body doesn't respond. I can't even gasp for air. Water flows in and out of my gaping mouth. I just lay there motionless. I think "well, this is it" and close my eyes.
I feel myself float to the surface so I open my eyes and it's now nighttime. I climb out of the pool and head back to where my friends were, but they are gone. I find an empty patio-chair and a towel so I wrap my wet, shivering body in the towel and sit down.
I hear a voice say "fasten your safety-belts." I look up and there are two women dressed as flight attendants standing in front of me. I look down and there are seatbelts attached to the patio-chair. I look back up to the women, but they are gone and sliding doors close in front of me and suddenly there are walls of a plane cabin around me. On the siding doors are flashing red lights. On the left door, the light reads "Warning! Safety malfunction!" and on the right, it says "Warning! LYHIUM levels low!"
I look around me, but everyone else in the "plane" are other pool patio people in swimsuits with towels draped over their heads so I can't see their faces (like brightly colored ring-wraiths or dementors or something) and they seem unaware that we're now on a plane. Somewhere behind me someone screams "What about the lyhium! We can't fly without the lyhium!" (pronounced LIE-HEE-UM). Over the plane's PA, a flight attendant's voice says "that's just an idiot-light malfunction... there's really nothing wrong... if the lyhium levels really were low, we would NOT've been able to take off already"
I look out the window and the cityscape is moving below us, but in the opposite direction i expected so apparently my seat is turned around backwards facing the rear of the plane.
The flight attendant politely says: "please shut up and enjoy the flight"
Suddenly there's a loud BOOM that shakes the plane. Out the windows, all i can see is a red-orange glow as the plane rocks back and forth and goes into a dive.
I think aloud, "well, this is it" and close my eyes.
I'm pretty sure "LYHIUM" is my dreaming brain's version of helium. I remember an episode of Batman the Animated Series called "Perchance to Dream" where Batman figures out that he was dreaming because letters on a newspaper were all jumbled up. Apparently text is often confused by the brain during dreams. I usually don't have much trouble reading text in my dreams, but then again, i think i'm a pretty atypical dreamer cuz i often have lucid dreams, i usually remember my dreams, and I almost always dream in color.
